About Sree Shivaji Spoorti Kendram Srisailam

Historical Context: Shivaji Maharaj’s Connection to Srisailam

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary Maratha ruler, had a deep spiritual connection with Srisailam, a major pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy (Shiva) and Goddess Bhramaramba Devi (Parvati). During his Southern Campaign (1677-1678), Shivaji visited Srisailam and is believed to have meditated (dhyana) in the region, seeking divine blessings before his military expeditions.

Establishment of Shivaji Spoorti Kendram (1994)

The memorial was inaugurated in 1994 by Maratha and local cultural organizations to honor Shivaji’s legacy in the region.

  • Land & Architecture:

Spread across 10,000 sq ft, the Kendram was built in a traditional
style blending Maratha and Telugu architectural influences.

  • Founding Organizations:

Likely involved contributions from Shivaji-related trusts,
Maharashtra Mandals in Telangana/AP, and local authorities.

  • Objective:

To preserve the historical and spiritual connection between Shivaji and
    Srisailam while promoting national unity.
